A6 PostCard Presentation

I created a postcard which quickly summarizes the intent of my project and what I aim to achieve with it. I decided to call it "Project Pole" and I created a new icon for it using a pole picture of one of my friends. I used illustrator to create the vector pictogram and indesign to create my postcard. I think I will use the pictogram and text as the logo/brand of my campaign.

Telegraph Article

Anastasia Kukhtovora is one of our top 8 pole fitness accounts to follow on Instagram Photo: INSTAGRAM

It's one of the first articles I've seen online that actually hasn't made one remark about whether pole dance is acceptable or not, but just an article about pole dancers to follow on Instagram because of how interesting and awe-inspiring they are. It was a nice change and something refreshing.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I've started to researh post-feminism and relating it to my project.
I was suggested to look into the speech given by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie which Beyonce' incorporates in her Flawless video and has played during her Tour.  This video shows her whole speech. It's really interesting and really made me think. The messege is about changing the way people percieve Feminism whilst still persuing the idea of equal opportunities for all.

The feminist is a man or a woman who says
"Yes, there's a problem with gender as it is today, and we must fix it. We must do better."

IPSF Interview

Today I managed to get an Interview with KT Coates, the president of the IPSF. A lovely lady and very passionate about pole, she gave me a real insight into the world of competitive sports and the level of work needed to become an Olympic Sport. A really good opportunity for me and my project to get a professional point of view. My favourite statement from her was this. Pole is the:

"Most interesting and exciting way of getting fit."

Introduction

My name's Elisa, I'm a third year Graphic Design student at the University of Portsmouth. My Major Project for this year is based around Pole Dancing. I've been practicing Pole for a year and a half and really enjoy it! The aim of my project is to change people's view on pole dance and to get it recognized as an official sport. I have a particular interest in getting pole to be a part of the Olympics and as a Graphic Designer I want to use my visual skills to communicate this messege.
